My work up to date has concentrated on creating environments and suspending moments exploring the relationship between the figure, objects and narrative. I enjoy discovering and experimenting with situations where this relationship is in a state of vulnerability and exposure, and how as an artist I have the ability to engage with that, as I desire through paint. The subject of my current work has been informed by recent documentaries about assisted dying clinics in Switzerland. The documentaries completely exposed these clinics, and provided a wonderfully poignant and harrowing view into their inner workings, through the stories of people that chose to die there. I am also very much interested in the inanimate and the uncertain, and through creating the environments I do, I can conjure illusions, create places and things in-between reality and fantasy, keeping you locked in a chasm of activity where your unsure of your position in relation to what you are viewing.
